How do I check my oil level on my Maserati 4200GT?

The correct procedure is to start the engine and get it hot, preferably give it a quick drive. Put the vehicle on a flat surface, remove the dipstick (located under the O/S engine cover just behind the headlamp, red in colour) whilst the engine is still running and check the level. It must be between min and max, do not worry if the level is not on maximum but please ensure it is between the two levels. The top up oil should be of the same quality as used in the last service but if you don’t know, use a reputable manufacturer of 5W/40 fully synthetic engine oil.

At Giallo we use Motul Xcess 8100 fully synthetic engine, we use this oil as it exceeds Maserati's set oil specifications considerably.
