To jump start a Maserati (or any other car for that matter) is regarded as a very risky thing to do. All systems on the vehicle are discharged and have no reserve or active current, by attaching the jump lead to the car they system has gone from totally flat to fully charged. This creates an electrical "spike" that travels around the system and does invariably damage something on the system. Net result is a damaged component on the vehicle. We do not recommend jump starting any vehicle for this reason, however there are some precautions you can take to prevent a flat battery in the first place. If you do have a flat battery, charge it whilst disconnected from the vehicle.
1) If you have the opportunity of storing your vehicle in a garage, purchase a C-Tek charger(or equivalent) that charges the battery only when needed. You keep it constantly attached until you need to use the car. It is perfectly safe, can charge a battery from flat but mainly prevents you having a flat or damaged battery. It's simple to connect and disconnect and very inexpensive to purchase.
2) Some cars have an isolator that can mean you switch the car off, effectively. This prevents any draw on the battery and safe guards the car as it is immobilised, even if a thief intends on stealing the car he would activate the switch and arm the alarm and tracker system, so vehicle security is unaffected.
3) Start the vehicle weekly, in a well vented area, and leave ticking over for a period. This helps the system recharge and reduces your chances of having a flat battery.
4) Probably my favorite alternative is to drive the regularly, this always reduces the chance of having a flat battery, just beware usage could result in other problems.
