3200GT Timing Chain Replacement

The Maserati 3200GT has a schedule to replace the timing chains. These chains are located at the rear end of the end and join both camshafts together.  One camshaft is driven by the timing belt and these chains turn the othercamshaft, both at the same speed. Failure of these chains on either side will definately result in engine failure. Bent valves are expensive so we always recommend replacement as advised by Maserati.

Incidentally, there was a rumour that the valve timing was incorrect when the vehicle left the factory, unsure if this is true or not, we set the valve timing correctly using Maserati specifications. However, we have yet to find one correct.
